COURSE DESCRIPTION
Moving large, heavy loads is crucial to today’s manufacturing and construction industries. Much technology has been developed for these operations, including careful training and extensive workplace precautions. There are significant safety issues to be considered, both for the operators of the diverse “lifting” devices, and for workers in proximity to them. This course is a starting point for finding information about these devices and their operation.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Identify and explain key elements of relevant legislation.
Understand the responsibilities of the crane operator
Understand the safety implications attached to that role.
Use the main crane controls and safety devices,
Understand working limitations of cranes.
Understand and control hazards during crane operation.
Understands crane maintenance and inspection needs.
Operate a crane and do a basic lifting plan.

PREREQUISITE
Participant will be expected to provide evidence of a medical/eye test to confirm their depth of vision and that they are not colour blind and should have some experience in crane operations.
