COURSE DESCRIPTION
The basic Petroleum Bulk Storage Training is a Foundation course, designed to create awareness on the risks associated with working in a petroleum bulk storage facilities and to be taken by all employees of petroleum Bulk Storage Facilities and Jetties. Upon completing the training participants will have an understanding of the various petroleum products that are stored in bulk and the marketing of these products. Employees will have the required skills to respond in the event of an emergency.

At the end of the training course participants should be able to:
 Explain Tank farm Operations
 Understand the Physical, chemical & hazardous properties of Stored products
 Understand fire fighting techniques
 Conduct Safety briefing for visitors
 Perfectly respond to safety and security Emergency Evacuations
 Conduct Basic First Aid
 Conduct a proper Confined space entrant and attendant procedures
 Understand work at height hazards using ladders and other equipments
 Understand the Basic Water Survival techniques

 Tank farm Operations, Planning and scheduling
 Physical, chemical & hazardous properties of Stored products
 Petroleum Fiscalisation
 Formal documents, permits and Approvals
 Loss of containment and contingency plan
 Ignition sources – Electrostatic charges & discharges Lightning Protection basis
 Fire Detection, Firefighting & Protection – causes, escalation factors, prevention, Installation of Smoke Detectors, Fire Wardens Training and Appointment
 Safety Induction for visitors
 Emergency Evacuation procedure for safety and security
 Applicable standards, laws and regulations (DPR, SON, NFPA, Weights &Measures etc.)
 Basic First Aid PPE – types, uses, legal requirements, selection criteria
 Confined space and work at height hazards
 Basic Water Survival and managing safety around water related operations

Duration:
Basic Petroleum Bulk Storage Training has duration of 1 day including classroom presentations, practical exercises, discussions and videos.

Pre-requisite:
There are no pre-requisite for basic Petroleum Bulk Storage Training, however, participants should be able to read and write Basic English

Methodology:
 Class room session,
 Course manual and writing materials for all participants;
 Digital screen to display lecture slides and videos.
 First Aid and fire fighting simulations At the end of the course, participants shall be issued a certificate.
