Course Description
LPG Bulk plant is a propane storage and distribution facility. Stored to maintain enough propane to meet the changing needs of its customers, the bulk plant is designed to receive and store large quantities of propane from the wholesaler. The design and layout of each bulk plant may vary depending on the retailer’s or customer’s needs. This course is aimed at providing participants with a thorough understanding of identifying hazards involved with filling Cylinders with LPG and transporting them to customer locations. Participants will have an understanding of the hazards associated with carrying out the processes and be equipped with the skills required to react in the event of an emergency. Retailers would also be trained on Cylinder standards and types, installation, maintenance and disposal.
Upon completion of this training, the participant should be able to understand:
Identify the basic features and operational objectives of the bulk plant
Recognize bulk plant equipment, tank and valve accessories, and loading and unloading stations
Identify and safely open the valves in the liquid supply lines leading from the storage tanks.
Understand the process for visually inspecting cylinders to determine if they are safe for continued service.
Determine if a cylinder valve needs to be repaired or replaced and describe the processes for valve extraction and replacement

Course Outline
Main components of Bulk Plants
Propane liquid supply system
Inspection and filling of cylinders
Inspection and filling of vehicle mounted ASME tanks
Cylinders visual inspection and requalification
Maintaining cylinders and ASME tanks
Unloading cargo tank motor vehicles
Bulk plant systems and equipment maintenance etc.
Duration:
This Bulk Plant Basic Operations course will be organized in 1 day. These include classroom exercises and videos.
Pre-requisite:
There are no pre-requisite for this training, however, it is recommended that participants be able to read and write Basic English.
Methodology:
Class room session,
Course manual and writing materials for all participants;
Digital screen to display lecture slides and videos.
At the end of the course, participants shall be issued a certificate and PASS.
