COURSE DESCRIPTION
The risk of incidents involving gas occurs across the international oil and gas industry, particularly when working in confined spaces. This course will give you a basic understanding of gas hazards and how these can be mitigated by testing and other control measures. The knowledge gained in this course will help you understand how, when and where to carry out the necessary gas tests prior to confined space entry activities.
Course Objectives
The objectives of the Authorised Gas Tester, AGT training course is to ensure that personnel preparing for a gas tester role are equipped with the knowledge to conduct gas tests for oxygen levels, flammable and toxic gases safely.
Trainees understand how to conduct gas testing within confined spaces and awareness of associated confined space hazards.
Trainees understand the potential hazards of hazardous work and safe work procedures.
Participants understand the benefits and mechanisms for issuing a work permit (permit to work).
Participants are able to take hazardous gas measurements at their workplace and interpret measurement results, and are able to maintain gas detection equipment.

• Fire Hazards & Countermeasures (basic of fire)
• Risky work involving Gas Tester
• Hazardous Area Classification
• Personal protective equipment
• Permit to Work
• Energy / LOTO / Purging Gas insulation
• Gas Testing & Detection
• Know the Gas Detection Tool and its operating mechanism
• Trouble shoothing and calibration of the Gas Detector tool test
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A valid medical certificate
Be medically fit to carry out the practical elements of the course
Target Audience
All Personnel preparing to work as Authorized Gas Testers who are required to perform a gas test for oxygen, flammable and toxic gases in confined spaces or hot work sites including hot work safety watch duties.
