COURSE: BANKSMAN AND SLINGER COURSE
COURSE CODE: BMS 101

COURSE DESCRIPTION
A banksman is a person who oversees the operations of cranes at a particular site and a slinger is a person responsible for securing a load to lift, pull, hoist, or move in general. Since the cranes and similar large vehicles may not be visible from the loading dock, the banksmen are there to oversee the operations of cranes at a particular site. This course is designed to provide trainees with the ability to conduct lifting operations safely with the boundaries of their roles, by providing an Introduction to Banksman & Slinger working safely. Establish Crane and Sling Safety in the Industry. Course Objectives This course is aimed to provide delegates with a brief knowledge of legislation applicable when carrying out lifts and all prior assessments relating to the risks involved along with communication and basic signals required between the banksman and crane operator. This course is a combination of theory and practical content

Methodology:
Class room session, Digital in-focus projector to display lecture slides Course manual for all participants At the end of the course, participants shall be issued certificates. Practical involving the use of crane in lifting a load and demonstration of various hand signals

Revalidation:
Every three years

Health:
All delegates will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.
